The "18th Louisiana
Infantry, Co. G"
is a small re-enactment group of the American Civil War 1861-1865.
Its members live in western France. It was
created in 1998.
We choose to recreate
the 18th Louisiana
Infantry Regiment because it was, historically, a french-speaking
unit ; especially its company G "Lafourche Creoles",
whose soldiers came from bayou Lafourche.
Our group is of course
interested in the
military re-enactment of the Civil War period, but not only :
we also seek to discover the culture and traditions of french-speaking
"Acadie".

The historical 18th La.
Infantry Regiment
took part in the battles of Pittsburg Landing (1 - 2 march 1862),
Shiloh (6-7 april 1862), Corinth (29 april - 10 june 1862),
Labadieville
(27 october 1862), and Mansfield (8 april 1864).
There are much more historical infos in the french
language
pages of our website than in this english language page, because
infos about the ACW are more difficult to find for french-speaking
people.
An american website has
gathered an amazing
lot of historical information about the 18th La. (clic on the
pic):

The "18th Louisiana, Co.
G" wears
the confederate uniform for historical re-enactment purpose. The
group members play the role of french-speaking confederate soldiers
who were thrown in a terrible war. The group has no political
references. We do not accept any contact with racist individuals
nor with racist groups.
